Gorrilla Walk
Kennedy learned the gorilla walk at Yoga. She's been performing it everywhere.
She makes us laugh all the time. Here she is in the thick of it all in the kitchen where she decided to take a "nap".

It's been busy around here so we haven't taken many pics in the last few days. I took this photo of Kennedy after she helped with "looking" some beans (red beans this time) last night before we went up for her bath and bedtime.

Houston the Cow
Kennedy got this stuffed cow at the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo. She calls it "Houston."
When we were at Proper Eats in St. John's this past weekend, Kennedy discovered dried apricots. She found them in their bulk food bins. The apricots were at just the right level for her to reach in and grab one. We picked up some more tonight from our local grocery store.

Crush Brunch and Carousel Rides
We spent Sunday morning at Crush's brunch with friends April and Carol and their 3 year old twin grandchildren, Morgan and Jason. If you haven't been to Crush for Sunday breakfast, you should go. Amazingly good food and great service. This is a photo of Kennedy, Carol and Jason.
Kennedy and Morgan and Jason had fun exploring.
After brunch we went to Jansen Beach to ride the carousel. Kennedy rode a horse on the first go round but decided to sit on the bench for the second one. She liked waving to Susan and April who stayed on the sideline.

Happy Birthday Grandpa Anderson
Grandpa and Grandma Anderson visited on Saturday to celebrate my dad's birthday. Kennedy sure enjoys seeing them. Here's Grandpa reading her "Today I will Fly" which is one of Kennedy's favorite new books. It's one of many in a new collection we got last weekend - we're contemplating retiring most of the board books in favor of these new story books...
Kennedy helped Grandpa open his birthday card then we all went to Proper Eats in St. John's for dinner and to see our friend Pamela play guitar. Good fun!

Mema Bean
I've been working at home today, cleaning out the truck, painting the stairway, making dinner... And all day I've been thinking about taking a trip to our local store this evening and buying some bulk beans to soak and cook tomorrow. I just checked email and my twin Shelly sent this picture of mom (Mema) with a 25 lb bag of beans on her shoulder. Is it any wonder I'm such a bean lover? Beans are a staple for the Sanford family, though the bean loving gene really came from the Brandenburg side.

Vinyl Sticker Play
Kennedy continues to be a good reader. She is particularly fond of her activity books. This one has vinyl stickers that can be placed in the book and taken out again.

Archive Links Now Working
Finally, our blog archives links are working. Yippee!
Zoo Train
We headed up to the zoo Sunday afternoon to ride the train.
Kennedy started off on our laps but then decided she wanted to have her own spot.
When we were walking out of the zoo everyone laughed when Kennedy announced "I'm a lucky girl!" Last week I made a grilled cheese sandwich for Kennedy. Susan told her she was a lucky girl to have a grilled cheese. Kennedy latched on to that phrase and has been saying it ever since.
Today is Stacey's birthday. Happy Birthday Stacey!

Look at this turtle!
We made our way over to SE Belmont's Laughing Planet for lunch today. Kennedy had a blast with this toy turtle. She really liked her food too--a bowl of mashed potatoes mixed with cheese, corn and broccoli.

Spring has sprung
Spring has definitely sprung in Portland. We took a walk through the neighborhood today. It's nice to be able to get out and see everything that is in bloom. Lots of urban gardening taking place too. Of course, we ended up at the park.

One last Easter Photo
Here's Kennedy on the front porch in her new dress from Mimi. The hat is a carry-over from last year. It fits much better now anyway.

Still talking about eggs
I guess we'll be talking about egg coloring for as long as there are colored eggs to eat in the fridge. I can't be sure, but I think they've multiplied. Somebody please stop them! Even Kennedy has resorted to saying "I don't like hard boiled eggs."
Left Over Eggs
Kennedy sure enjoyed coloring the eggs. Her favorite line was "Let me do it!"
I've been watching people peel and eat their left over eggs all week at work. It's kind of icky. Susan and C.K. are eating their way through our left over eggs.

First Peeps and Egg Coloring!
Kennedy had her first Easter Peeps. Guess what? She likes them!
Here's a picture of C.K. and Kennedy going through her Easter basket haul of goodies.
Susan boiled a few dozen eggs. She did some research on
Fresh Baby for the best way to boil eggs to color.

Easter
What a great Easter we've had. We slept late and had a casual morning cooking breakfast. Sheryl made fancy scrambled eggs, toast and we had bagels with salmon, capers, etc. Yum.
CK came over and helped Kennedy explore her Easter basket - photos of that later in the week. After breakfast we dyed eggs and went over to Laurel and Peter's house this evening for dinner. All in all - a fantastic day spent with good friends.
The family...
Kennedy's Easter dress was once again supplied by Mimi and here is Kennedy showing it off. She particularly loved to spin and clomp around in her little shoes.
Laurel gave Kennedy these great bubbles; they're from Germany and Sheryl swears they are the best bubbles she's seen. Here's Kennedy mesmerized by the bubbles.

Park
The park is finally back in play now that it is Spring. Last time we were out here was in Winter and the park was covered in snow.
Kennedy has turned into a "hoodie" person. She really likes wearing her hoodie jackets.

Pink Eye and Plants
This pink eye belongs to Susan. It's a photo from earlier this week. She had to go to the Doctor and get some medicine. Kennedy and I have been doing our best to stay out of range. I'm glad to see that Susan's eye is much better now.
The lima beans we planted are shooting roots!
Kennedy enjoys keeping the porch plants watered.

Groucho Glasses
Kennedy keeps these Groucho Marx glasses in her drawer in the kitchen. When she puts them on she just giggles away; she thinks they are very funny. We agree.

Helper
While I mostly planted flowers and herbs this weekend, Susan worked on putting together storage cabinets. Kennedy was our helper and she rotated between the two activities.
Watching her maneuver the hammer was fun. It was a difficult task at first but she has good concentration and quickly learned how to tap the nail.

Lima Bean Planting
Kennedy's gardening gloves are still too big but fit better than they did last year. And this year she can use her tools.
We planted some lima beans along the sides of a glass jar. The jar is in one of our windows now and we hope to watch the beans grow sprouts.
We had more than enough lima beans and Kennedy had fun sneaking the seeds into the soil of many of our potted plants. There's no telling where we'll see beans sprouting up.

Worm Lessons
What was supposed to be a dry mild weekend turned into a rainy and cold one. For some of Saturday morning we read books and played in the house. Then we went to the plant store and picked up potting soil and a big selection of plants from flowers to grasses and herbs.
We used the garage as a staging/work area. When there were rain breaks we cleaned out the old plant pots and found a few worms here and there. Here's a picture of Susan telling Kennedy what worms are all about.

Easter Dress from Mimi
Kennedy received a package in the mail from Mimi this week. Here's Kennedy reading the card from Mimi.
Mimi buys Kennedy's Easter dress each year. Here's this year's special dress.
