Super Dog
Oliver got this dog blanket for his birthday and the kids have had so much fun playing with it. Kennedy puts it on Oliver and calls him "Super Dog." Oliver of course loves it and crawls and walks around wearing the blanket.
He likes it when Kennedy plays "Super Dog" too.
Here he is crawling onto Super Dog's lap.
And here's the sweet hug.

Field Trip
Kennedy's class had a field trip to the Chinese Gardens earlier this week. Of course it rained on the morning we went. That didn't deter the kids from having fun though. Here's Kennedy standing in one of the many doorways at the Garden.
Oliver walked around quite a bit. He enjoyed the gardens but really enjoyed all of the other children running around.

Hair Cuts and Growing Kids
It was something of family hair cut week last week. Both Kennedy and Sheryl got theirs cut. In Texas, Shelly and Robin got theirs cut. And in Hawaii, Stacey got her hair cut! Here's Kennedy showing off her new cut. I think this is the last time we're going to see this dress in the rotation too as I could barely squeeze the buttons together in the back!
Oliver didn't want to miss out on the picture taking so he came over and stood with Kennedy. His hair is growing but it may be another year or so before he is ready to join in on family haircut days.
Spring and Summer Softball
The softball season has begun and we've been fortunate to have two nice weather days on game days thus far. Here's Oliver playing at the softball park, enjoying the sunshine and a book.
Here are two of the cutest spectators, Luci and Kennedy.

Talking to the Stuffed Animals
Just this week Oliver Del has started talking (in his own language) to the stuffed animals, or putting two animals together in apparent dialogue play. It's very cute and fun to watch.

Manual Dexterity
We are all helping Oliver with his manual dexterity skills. In this photo Uncle C.K. is assisting Oliver in putting the pieces on this IKEA toy (we call it the Lighthouse).
You can see in this picture, that includes Kennedy in her pig tails and karate gee, that Oliver is really serious about getting the top piece onto the pole. He gets it on about half of the time. Good fun!

Bike Trailer Days
We took advantage of some nice weather days and biked our daily errands and activities. At the end of the day Tuesday I managed to take this photo. The first thing I do when we stop is open up the trailer and take Oliver's helmet off. He really dislikes wearing it, but I have to say he is getting better about that. He even slept on the way to pick up Kennedy from school!

Wake up Wake up!
Here's Oliver trying to wake his sister up this morning. She started to get out of bed and then snuggled back into her pillow saying "I'm awake but my legs are still sleepy."

Boy on the Go
Since turning 1, Oliver's car seat is now forward facing. It took some adjustment on his part, but he is finally enjoying this new perspective.

No Grass Under Oliver's Feet
Oliver likes being outside and we've had a great sunny weekend for that. Between his moving around and mommies watching out for possible falls and other dangers, it's hard to snap a photo of the boy!
Other Oliver news: He has his third tooth. The fourth one is very near. He is off formula and on nut and rice milks. He drinks from a small glass and from straw cups. He only has a bottle at bedtime. His sign language ability, especially the sign for "more," has greatly improved.

Glue Lessons from a 4 1/2 year old
Kennedy: Just a dot is a lot.
Sheryl: Of what?
Kennedy: Glue, but not a glue stick.
Sheryl: Oh.
Kennedy: And you have to count to 10 elephants for it to hold.
Sheryl: How does that go?
Kennedy: One elephant, two elephant, three elephant...

Happy Birthday Grandpa Joe
Sheryl and Grandpa Joe went to a batting cage this past Saturday. Grandpa later stopped by for a visit with the kids. Here's a photo of him with Oliver.

Oliver our Little Reader and Happy Birthday to Stacey
Kennedy is such a reader and has been since day one almost. Oliver was a bit slower to pick up the books but has recently shown a great interest in them. Often, we will find him sitting quietly in the playroom going through his books.
and Happy Birthday to Stacey! We all miss you and can't wait to see you soon.

Park Days and Visits from Friends
The sun was out quite a bit last week and we visited the park as much as we were able. Oliver gets around well at the park now that he is walking. He hasn't, however, learned yet that the bottom of the slide is not a good place to stand but we keep an eye out for him.
Patrick, Niki and River visited and stayed with us last week. Here's a photo of River at the top of the slide.
And here's a photo of Patrick with all of the kids piled around.

Easter Outfits from Mimi
Mimi sent Easter outfits again this year. It was a first for Oliver, but Kennedy has many beautiful outfits from Mimi. She really outdid herself this year with Kennedy's dress. Tah dah:
Kennedy got so many compliments at church services and at the home of our friends Laural and Peter who put together an evening Easter tea party. Here's a photo of Susan and Oliver at that gathering.
And here's Oliver in his new outfit:
Thanks Mimi!

Snot Alert
Uncle C.K. called yesterday to see if it would be a good evening to come visit the family. I said, um, you might want to wait a bit.
This photo is a bit on the light side but you can still see the line of snot that we've been chasing away for 2 days running now. Poor little Oliver cries when we even start walking towards the tissue box (and we've got the extra soft kind too!).

Mr. O loves the outdoors
Kennedy announced yesterday evening that she has a new name for Oliver, "Mr. O". This has since expanded to include Mr. Oh no, Mr. Oh my, Mr. Oh Oh, Mr. Okay...
With our recent breaks from the rain Mr. O has discovered that he likes being outside. When we bring him in he stands at the door and cries to go back out.
One of his best outside skills is climbing the front steps. Color him Mr. O-so-sneaky as he makes a bee line for the steps at every opportunity.

Easter Morning
Note - sorry for the silence on this end; we had company all week - photos and stories from those adventures soon!
It's Oliver's second Easter and he did us proud and slept in until about 8am. Here's Oliver with his first Easter basket,
Kennedy, however, was up bright and early to look for the Easter eggs that the sly bunny had left during his visit. Looking for plastic eggs first thing in the morning around the house has become a tradition for this usual soppy day in the PNW. Today doesn't disappoint with drippy skies under a grey ceiling.
Below is a photo that Kennedy took of the eggs she found this morning. While looking for the eggs, she would stop and open each egg and make a comment. Kennedy made us smile with her ongoing commentary:
- The Easter Bunny did a great job!
- Oh - another one of these - good thing the Easter Bunny brought me this one, I can't find mine from last year! (note - most likely because I had it hidden in the basement for reuse - heh heh)
- I love it!
Finally, to cap off the morning, I made bunny pancakes. Kennedy stated that she wants to make sure that she has bunny pancakes every Easter.

While Driving Home Today
Sheryl: That guy is a loser.
Kennedy: Why is that guy a loser?
Sheryl: He's throwing trash out of his window onto the street.
Kennedy: Why is that wrong?
Sheryl: Because trash goes in the garbage. How would you like to be walking along and suddenly there is trash in your way?
Kennedy: Oh. I am a loser.
Sheryl: What do you mean?
Kennedy: I threw trash out of the bike trailer on to the street once and I was a loser but I don't want to be a loser again.

Photos of Mommy Susan and Kennedy
At the end of our busy weekend I managed to snap a cell phone photo of Susan and Kennedy. Oliver was asleep.

Mango Leather and a New Book Series
Oliver Del is taking his time getting new teeth. He's been teething forever it seems and his poor gums are very sore. He has taken to chewing on dried mango slices. In this family we prefer the organic mango slices from
Woodstock Farms. You'd think that all dried mango products would be equal but No! We've tried many different ones and they never taste as good as the Woodstock Farms product.
Kennedy has started a new book series--
The Magic Tree House. She so enjoys them and they are fun for us to read. This picture was taken after reading a book in the series.
I need to get more pics of Susan and the kids up here so I'll try to work on that and convince her to snap some with her cell phone camera too.

Uncle C.K. brings a Library Book
Uncle C.K., a frequent library visitor, surprised Kennedy this week when he checked out a book,
Where The Wild Things Are, to read to her. Of course, Oliver wanted in on the action too. Here's Uncle C.K. reading the book to them.

The Big Princess Tent
Uncle Eric and Aunt Peggy gifted Kennedy this Princess tent a few years back. Since it was spring break week we took it out for some living room fun. The kids loved playing in it as did Elle the cat. Oliver would go in one side and out the other. He also thought he could interact with the Princesses on the outside and kept standing up to touch and talk to them. Too funny.
